What is Confirmation?

Eighth grade students in ELEVATE commit to one year of instruction, learning about the Bible and the basics of the Lutheran faith. We help them reaffirm their baptismal promises, grow in their relationship with Christ and others, and challenge them to live a life faithful to God 24/7! The students will confirm their faith in a public worship service in the spring.

What do the student's learn?

The Confirmation students will learn about the basics of the Christian faith and the Six Chief Parts of Luther’s Small Catechism. This includes the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, Baptism, and Holy Communion. In addition, the students will gather weekly in small groups under the care of adult leaders who help the student’s apply what they have learned to their every day lives. The goal to to help our students grow as a disciple and follower of Jesus.

What is the Confirmation Retreat?

During the first weekend of November, all students who wish to confirm their faith must attend the Confirmation Retreat. During that time, the students, along with their adult leaders, will engage in a number of lessons and activities that will help them grow in their relationship with God and with each other! The retreat is included in the Confirmation Fee ($150).

When do the students confirm their faith?

The students confirm their faith in one of the weekend worship services the first weekend of May. During their worship services, the students will have previously prepared a “Testimony of Faith” video that will be shown during the service. In addition, they will not only publicly declare their faith in Jesus Christ, but also come forward for a blessing by the Pastor.  There is  a Confirmation Rehearsal and Dessert Reception the Friday evening of Confirmation weekend. All students are expected to be in attendance.
